Self-Assessments

Nutrition and physical activity self-assessment tools are a great way to get started evaluating program and classroom practice and policies. Listed below is Let’s Grow! NH’s four recommended tools. Self-assessment can be completed by individuals, groups and/or in conjunction with a consultant or technical assistance provider.

  • Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment for Child Care (NAP SACC)
  • NAP SACC has been used in NH since 2009, and is considered to be the  first self-assessment tool created by public health and child care experts.  This assessment tool will help programs improve policies and practices for ages 2-5, or for providers looking for an easy tool to begin with.
  • Let’s Move! Child Care (LMCC) Quizzes
  • Beginning in 2011, First Lady Michelle Obama began working with policy makers, public health educators and schools to get children more healthy and moving. Since, healthy habits are often formed early-LMCC unveiled the checklists for child care programs in 2011. This checklist will assess the physical activity or nutrition policies and practices for children birth-five.
  • GO NAP SACC
  • The Let’s Move! Checklist was updated by GO NAP SACC in 2013.  Similar to the Let’s Move Checklist, this assessment will assess the physical activity or nutrition policies and practices for children birth to five.
  • Please note, it is recommended providers choose one or two checklists to start, rather than doing all six at once.

  • GO NAP SACC Family Child Care
  • Released in 2014, these are the only checklists created specifically for Family Child Care Providers.
