New Hampshire law prohibits the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products to persons under the age of 18. The New Hampshire Liquor Commission has primary responsibility for enforcing the law and the Department of Health and Human Services is responsible for an annual compliance check of tobacco vendors. Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment block grant money can be withheld if the state retailer violation rate exceeds 20%. The violation rate in New Hampshire for this year's survey is 12%.
