In January 2002 and November 2003 NH DHHS and the NH Department of Education released results of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) Aggregate School-Wide Report. Data was collected from 33 NH high schools in the spring of 2001 and 31 NH high schools in the spring of 2003. Participating schools surveyed their full student bodies and a total of 16,664 students in 2001 and 16,404 students in 2003 completed the self-administered, 99-item questionnaire.
The YRBS questions measure behaviors in six categories:
1) behaviors that result in injuries;
2) tobacco use;
3) alcohol and other drug use;
4) sexual behaviors that result in HIV infection, other sexually transmitted diseases, and unintended pregnancies;
5) dietary behaviors; and
6) physical activity.
The 2003 Youth Risk Behavior Survey Aggregate School-Wide Report (28 pages) and the 2001 Youth Risk Behavior Survey Aggregate School-Wide Report (25 pages) focus on alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drug related behaviors, but also assesses relationships between these behaviors and public health problems such as depression, suicidality, and violence. |
