If an individual has been convicted of more than one Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) first offense in any state in the last seven to 10 years (the law changed 1/1/2002 from 7 to 10 years and will be phased in gradually), regardless of the reason, he or she is NOT considered a first offender and must complete the Phase II Program.
The Phase II Program consists of the following:
- An intensive 7 day/6 night residential program;
- Alcohol and other drug education, group interactions and self-assessment;
- An evaluation by a licensed or certified alcohol and drug counselor; and
- Possible continuing care recommendations that must be followed before a license can be restored.
The fee is currently $1550 and is subject to subsequent increases without notice. Programs expect payment in full upon entrance, however, it is possible to arrange a payment plan. An individual's license cannot be restored until payment is made in full.
