Training opportunities on topics related to alcohol, tobacco and other drug services are available in different formats and for various audiences.

 

Professional Training for AOD Service Professionals and

Related Fields

Through a contract with the NH Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors Association (NHADACA), the NH Training Institute on Addictive Disorders (NHTIAD) provides training events monthly.  Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Social Worker and Mental Health CEUs are available for the trainings.

Alcohol and Other Drug Training for Other Professions

The Office of Alcohol and Drug Policy (OADP), Integration and Training Unit, presents the "Initial Training on Addiction" in Concord at least 4 times per year.  This 6-hour workshop is offered at no cost to policy makers and professionals in Human Services, Health, Criminal Justice, Education, etc.  It is designed to give participants the ability to recognize alcohol and other drug problems of their clients and to understand the holistic nature of the disease of addiction.  In addition, OADP presents the 3-hour workshop entitled, "Addiction and Families" 4 times per year in Concord.  This workshop is also offered at no cost and explores how the addiction of the individual affects the entire family system.  Special attention will be paid to the effects on the children in the family and discussion will center around strategies and resources to help increase their resiliency and coping skills.

 

**It is strongly recommended that people complete the "Initial Training on Addiction" prior to taking "Addiction and Families".**

 

Scheduled dates for 2008:
Initial Training on Addiction: February 6, May 14, September 10, November 19  -  8:30 am - 4:00 pm
Addiction and Families: February 7, May 15, September 11, November 20  -  9:00 am - 12 noon
