Methamphetamine and New Hampshire

The use of methamphetamine (meth) has a devastating impact on individuals, our families, communities and the environment. Until recently, the widespread use of methamphetamine has been primarily seen in the western and central regions of the United States.  Over an 18-month period beginning in 2004, 12 of 18 methamphetamine labs seized in New England were located in New Hampshire.

This rise in use of methamphetamine along with the severe consequences it brings to individuals, families and the environment provides a strong incentive for New Hampshire to be proactive implementing dynamic education, prevention and treatment efforts along with effective policy and law enforcement measures, before this drug becomes a major public health, criminal justice, child endangerment, and environmental problem for our state.
