Questions & Answers:
1.  What services can I receive from the Bureau of Behavioral Health (BBH)?Back to top

BBH does not offer direct services but oversees other NH funded service providers and community mental health agencies.  BBH also oversees Community Mental Health Services that manage contracts with community agencies such as homeless shelters, peer support agencies and mental health centers.

2.  How can I access your mental health services?Back to top
Our programs are administered at the community level by 10 agencies each dedicated to service in a district area.  This list of Community Health Centers provides contact information including addresses, phone numbers and contact persons for each center.

3.  Is the information I tell Emergency Services confidential?Back to top
Yes, it is confidential except when someone could be in danger.  When danger is a concern information necessary to secure safety may be shared with other providers including the police, ambulance personnel, hospital personnel, Division for Children, Youth and Families staff, and others as necessary.

4.  What are the credentials of the person I would see from Emergency Services?Back to top
Emergency Services clinicians are master level clinicians - most are licensed or license eligible.  All clinicians undergo extensive orientation and training.  A psychiatrist is available for consultation if necessary and a supervisor who is a master level clinician with many years of experience is also available.

5.  Will I be billed for my contact with Emergency Services?Back to top

When you see a clinician in person that service is billed.  Your insurance company will be contacted for authorization for treatment and assessment if you have insurance.  If you are uninsured you will receive services as needed and billed later as necessary.  Call the business office of the Community Mental Health Center that sends the bill to negotiate a payment plan including a sliding scale fee based on your income if you feel you are unable to pay.
