Welcome to the Bureau of Disease Control & Laboratory Sciences

The mission of the Bureau of Disease Control & Laboratory Sciences (BDCLS) is to serve the health and well being of NH residents and communities by providing timely and effective control of infectious diseases and monitoring of injuries, diseases, health behaviors and vital events.  BDCLS applies and promotes epidemiological principles toward public health responses and the collection, analysis and dissemination of data.

BDCLS is comprised of four program sections:

  • Communicable Disease Control & Surveillance which prevents, controls and monitors infectious, communicable diseases in NH
  • Food Protection which protects the NH food supply and prevents food borne illnesses by licensing and inspecting NH establishments where food is produced, manufactured, stored or sold.
  • Health Statistics & Data Management which analyzes and disseminates NH health related data.
  • Public Health Laboratories which protect the public's health in NH through responsive, unbiased, quality laboratory testing; actively participating in national and international surveillance networks; and improving the quality of health and forensic laboratory services in both the public and private sector.
