Questions & Answers:
1.  I have a great water source on my property.  How do I go about developing it?Back to top

All water that is bottled must come from an approved source.  Source approvals are granted by the Department of Environmental Services (DES) at (603) 271-3503.    If you want to bottle the water from your approved source, the bottling facility must then be licensed by DHHS.

2.  On the application for a beverage registration, a description of the source is required.  What does this mean? Back to top
The description of the source can be the section of the hydro-geological report or a separate statement from the company that describes the type of source.   For example, is the source a spring or multiple springs with water collected from the natural orifice, or is the source a borehole that has been determined by a hydro-geologic study to contain the same water as a spring, or is the source an artesian well?

3.  On the application for a beverage registration, a key for the code date used is required.  What does this mean?Back to top

All products must have a batch code whether it is the bottled on date, sell by date or some other code to indicate when the water was bottled.  Since each company uses a different code, the key for the code date will tell what the batch code on your bottles represent.  For example; Is it the bottled on date or sell by date? do you use a Julian date? or day, month, year? or does a combination of numbers indicate the actual date? does a particular number or letter in the code refer to a bottling line or bottling facility, etc.
