West Nile Virus (WNV) and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) spread to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito.  When a mosquito bites an infected bird, the mosquito becomes infected. The infected mosquito could then transmit the infection to a human that it bites.  Mosquitoes are most active from June to October.  The following Fact Sheets address precautions that are recommended during these months in a variety of circumstances or situations.
