The mission of the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control section is to prevent premature death and disability from chronic diseases and to promote healthy personal behaviors. To accomplish this mission CDPC partners with NH health and education agencies, community health centers, local and national voluntary agencies and associations, the private sector, and federal agencies. Improved quality of life and extended years of healthy living for NH residents are the overall outcomes for all activities undertaken through CDPC programs and services. CDPC administers asthma, diabetes, and breast and cervical cancer control programs.
The asthma program is designed to control asthma from a public health perspective and focuses on asthma prevention. The diabetes education program is designed to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes-related health problems by improving quality of care at community health centers and primary care providers. The statewide breast and cervical cancer control program offers eligible participants access to health exams, mammography, Pap smears, and gynecology exams. The Let No Woman Be Overlooked program plans, promotes and implements programs of education and screening.
