Dairy Sanitation Inspection & Licensing




Eligibility for Dairy Sanitation Inspection & Licensing

 

I.  Milk Producer Permit

 

Anyone who owns or operates a dairy farm in NH is eligible to obtain a milk producer permit.  In order to obtain a milk producer permit a person or corporation must, in accordance with NH Administrative Rules:

 

  • meet the requirements of the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance;
  • either sell the milk to a licensed milk plant or use the milk at their licensed milk plant; and
  • complete and submit an application for a milk producer permit and continue to meet the requirements of NH Statutes and NH Administrative Rules after the permit is issued.

 

II.  Milk Sanitation LicenseIn-State Plant and Producer/Distributor

Anyone who owns or operates a milk processing facility in NH or meets the definition in NH Statutes for a producer/distributor is eligible to obtain a milk plant license.  In order to obtain a milk plant license a person or corporation must meet the requirements below, in accordance with NH Administrative Rules:

 

  • The facility owned or operated by the prospective license holder must meet the requirements of the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance;
  • The milk at the facility must be processed in a manner that meets the requirements of NH Statutes, the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance and appropriate federal regulations; and
  • The prospective license holder must complete and submit an application for a milk sanitation license and continue to meet the requirements after the license is issued.

 

III. Milk Sanitation LicenseOut-of-State Plant and Producer/Distributor

Anyone who owns or operates a milk processing facility located outside NH or meets the definition in NH Statutes for a producer/distributor and is located outside NH is eligible to obtain a milk sanitation license.  In order to obtain a milk sanitation license a person or corporation must, in accordance with NH Administrative Rules:

 

  • Meet the requirements for licensure of out-of state plants or producer/distributors; and
  • Complete and submit an application for a milk sanitation license.

 

IV.  Milk Sanitation LicenseDistributor

Anyone who distributes milk in NH is eligible to obtain a milk sanitation license as a milk distributor.  In order to obtain a milk sanitation license a person or corporation must, in accordance with NH Administrative Rules:

 

  • Meet the requirements for licensure of milk distributors; and
  • Complete and submit an application for a milk sanitation license.
