In accordance with the Foster Care Administrative Case Review policy, case reviews must be held at least once every 6 months for each child who resides in an out-of-home setting under the supervision of the Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) or the Division for Juvenile Justice Services (DJJS). These reviews are held for each child from birth through the age of 21. In accordance with the federal guidelines for the Adoption Assistance and Child Welfare Act of 1980 (P.L. 96-272), the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997 (P.L. 105-89), and corresponding amended regulations under the Social Security Act of 1994, these reviews are required to determine and ensure the child's safety, well being, and permanency.
The Administrative Case Review summarizes the level of compliance and quality improvements made statewide and by district offices in accordance with the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997. This report also summarizes the level of compliance with federal law of case management for children in out-of-home placements statewide and by district office.
