The purpose of the Birth Query Tool is to support the information needs of local health departments, educators and community agencies in order to improve services, evaluate programs, and monitor birth related health indicators.  By viewing and making use of the data you agree to:

• Make no effort to determine any identities or disclose any presumed identities whether discovered intentionally or accidentally;
• Use the data only for statistical reporting or analyses; and
• Adhere to all related state and federal laws & regulations.

NH statutes protect the confidentiality of all individuals represented in the data.  NH statute (RSA 126:24) states that any person shall be guilty of a class B felony if he or she willfully and knowingly furnishes or disseminates vital records information in a manner inconsistent with the purposes for which it was released.  This statute also states that all releases of information shall be consistent with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, and all associated regulations.

Confidentiality is protected both through the use of firewalls and the programming of the Birth Query Tool (which does not report values when they are small).  Personal identifying information is removed from the data before it is used to generate results for the Birth Query Tool.
