Eligibility Requirements for Maternal and Child Health

 

MCH seeks to provide access to high quality preventive and primary health care for all children and reproductive health care for all women and their partners. 

 

CHILD HEALTH PROGRAM

Direct care services to low-income children who meet the following criteria:
  • Age: Birth to 11 years old
  • Income: 300% or less of the Federal Poverty Levels (FPL) for infants
  • Income: 50% or less for children ages 1 to 11

 

Child and family health support services to children who meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Birth to 18 years old; priority to children under age 11 
  • Income: 400% or less of the FPL; priority to children with family income 300% or less of the FPL

 

PRENATAL PROGRAM

Prenatal services are available to all women who request them regardless of religion, race, color, national origin, handicapping condition, age, sex, number of pregnancies or marital status.  Individuals with incomes at or below 185% of the current FPL are assisted to apply for medical assistance and most agencies have sliding fee scales for all low-income clients.

 

FAMILY PLANNING PROGRAMS

Individuals with incomes at or below 100% of the current FPL cannot be billed for services and all clients between 101% and 250% of the current FPL are entitled to receive discounted services.

 

HOME VISITING NH PROGRAM

Community-based agencies across NH provide Home Visiting NH services to:

  • Medicaid eligible pregnant women; and
  • Medicaid eligible families with children up to the age of one. 

 

Particular emphasis is placed on:

  • pregnant and parenting adolescents
  • pregnant and parenting women under 25 years of age
  • women pregnant with their first child
  • women at risk for poor pregnancy outcomes
  • pregnant women or mothers with substance abuse problems
  • families at risk for child abuse and neglect
