NH Medicaid Services

 

Healthy Kids:  administered in partnership with the NH Healthy Kids Corporation, this program provides health care access to NH's uninsured children by promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging preventive health and dental care, treating illness early and managing chronic health conditions.  Apply for NH Healthy Kids services through any DHHS District Office or by contacting the NH Healthy Kids Corporation at 1-877-464-2447.  You can also visit the NH Healthy Kids website for more information.

 

Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) Program: allows Medicaid-eligible individuals and families who have access to private health insurance to maintain that coverage as long as it is cost effective. The HIPP program pays the premiums for private coverage when the health care costs incurred by those persons would be paid at a greater expense through Medicaid.

 

Home Care for Children with Severe Disabilities (HC-CSD), commonly known as the Katie Beckett option:  Administered in partnership with the Division of Family Assistance (DFA) for severely disabled children up to age 19 whose medical disability qualify for institutional care but are cared for at home.

 

Home and Community Based Care for Acquired Brain Disorders (HCBC-ABD):  managed by the Bureau of Developmental Services (BDS), these services are available to individuals with traumatic brain injuries or neurological disorders who chose to remain in community settings in lieu of institutionalization.

 

Home and Community Based Care for Developmentally Disabled (HCBC-DD):  managed by BDS, these services are available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families who chose to remain in community settings in lieu of institutionalization.  Developmental disability determinations for eligibility for services are made within BDS.

 

Home and Community Based Care for the Elderly and Chronically Ill (HCBC-ECI):  managed by the Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services (BEAS), these services provide options to eligible individuals who chose to remain in community settings in lieu of nursing home care.

 

Medicaid for Employed Adults with Disabilities (MEAD):  administered in partnership with Granite State Independent Living,  allows Medicaid eligible disabled individuals between the ages of 18 and 64 who work to increase their earnings while maintaining their Medicaid insurance coverage.  You can also visit Granite State Independent Living for more information about the MEAD program.

 

Nursing Facility Care: managed by BEAS, these services provide support to qualified seniors or disabled individuals who are residents in a nursing or assisted care facility. 

 

Medical Transportation Program: ensures that individuals enrolled in Medicaid and Healthy Kids Gold have access to necessary medical services. A network of volunteer and recipient drivers provide transportation. The Department of Health and Human Services may reimburse individuals for driving Medicaid and Healthy Kids Gold recipients to and from Medicaid Covered medical and dental appointments (both service and provider must be Medicaid reimbursable), provided that they have applied and have been accepted as drivers for the Medicaid Program. Before requesting payment for transportation, individuals must enroll as a driver in the Medical Transportation Program.  Individuals may enroll as one of two types of drivers, a recipient driver, or a volunteer driver.  In some circumstances individuals may enroll as both.For information or assistance with transportation services, contact:
