The Individualized Resiliency and Recovery Oriented Services' is a proposed GraniteCare initiative. The primary goal of this program is to help consumers of mental and behavioral health services learn to manage their symptoms of a mental illness in order to reduce their susceptibility to relapses and to function more effectively in their community.
The program also provides a model for collaboration between mental health providers and consumers to establish an effective quality system of supports so that the consumer can live independently, minimize use of acute hospital services and to promote recovery.
Illness management and recovery initiatives of the program focus on the following:
- Recovery strategies
- Education about schizophrenia
- Stress vulnerability and treatment strategies
- Building a system of social supports
- Effective medication management
- Reducing relapses
- Receiving appropriate treatment in the mental health system
