The Housing Security Guarantee Program provides guarantees of rental security deposits to eligible persons unable to provide sufficient funds for housing security deposits and face potential homelessness.

Eligibility requirements for these services:

• An applicant's income needs to
  be within HUD's guidelines.
• Applicants must demonstrate
  an ability to make payments or
  installments.
• The landlord must be willing to
  accept a guarantee certificate in
  lieu of any other security deposit.
• The housing must meet local
  health and safety standards.
