The Office of Medicaid Business & Policy (OMBP) brings together two important functions: NH's Medicaid program and health planning and research activities.
2. What is the Office of Medicaid Business & Policy responsible for?
Overall responsibility for Medicaid policy development and implementation resides with OMBP. Administration of some Medicaid funded services rests with other parts of DHHS.
3. What Medicaid Services does Office of Medicaid Business & Policy provide?
Medicaid services within OMBP include third party liability, pharmacy benefit management, dental services, client services, transportation, aid to the permanently and totally disabled and financial management. Medicaid Administration provides greater detail about each service.
4. Who makes the financial eligibility determination to see if I am eligible for Medicaid?
The Special Medical Services (SMS) unit for children with special medical needs is housed in the Medicaid Administration unit. Funded by the federal Maternal and Child Health Block Grant and with NH general funds, the unit provides a wide array of services to children with special health care needs.
7. What is the Health Planning and Research unit within OMBP?
The Health Planning and Research unit enhances the strategic planning and research capabilities of DHHS. It works at building a framework from which state government, communities, health care providers, and others can work together to prepare "a comprehensive and coordinated system of health and human services as needed to promote and protect the health, safety, and well-being of NH citizens."
