The Office of Program Operations centralizes all DHHS programs and services under a single administrative unit. Centralized program operations includes programs and services provided directly by DHHS staff as well as those provided by community agencies.
Division of Child Support Services (DCSS): helps families establish and enforce child support orders: establishes paternity; offers employment and support services for non-custodial parents who have difficulty making child support payments; and helps fund four court-based mediation programs to improve communication between parents with child support or visitation issues.
Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF): assists families in the protection, development, permanency, and well-being of their children. DCYF staff provide a wide range of family-centered services with the goal of meeting a parent's and a child's needs and strengthening the family system. Services include adoption and foster care, domestic violence, child care, and teen independent living.
Division of Community Based Care Services (DCBCS): provides a wide range of supports and services in partnership with community systems for individuals with developmental disabilities and acquired brain disorders, individuals with serious mental illness or emotional disturbance, adults aged 18-60 who have a chronic illness or disability, and individuals age 60 or older. DCBCS also manages the NH Hospital (for Acute Psychiatric Services) and the Glencliff Home for the Elderly.
Division of Family Assistance (DFA): administers programs and services for eligible NH residents providing financial, medical and food & nutritional assistance, help with child care costs, and emergency help to obtain and keep safe housing. DFA staff determine eligibility and the amounts of benefits using federal and NH guidelines and policies.
Division of Juvenile Justice Services (DJJS): provides a continuum of services to three groups of adolescents: Children In Need of Services (CHINS), students with educational disabilities in court ordered placements, and youth involved with law enforcement agencies. DJJS also provides residential placements at the Youth Development Center.
Division of Public Health Services (DPHS): provides leadership and core public health capacity for NH citizens. DPHS assures the health and well being of communities and populations in NH by protecting and promoting the physical, mental and environmental health of its citizens, and by preventing disease, injury and disability.
District Office Operations: provide a single point for individuals and families to access DHHS services within their own communities. There are twelve DHHS "field" offices, called District Offices (DOs). Programs and services available at a DO include: financial assistance, child support, nursing home care and long term care, protective services for elderly and disabled individuals and children, foster care, adoption, juvenile justice, Food Stamps, child care, and Medicaid and other medical assistance programs.
Homeless and Housing Services: provides leadership, resources and coordination among a large group of homeless service providers. This unit administers funds received from the NH general fund, the US DHHS Center for Mental Health Services, and from US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
