The NH Rules for the Control of Radiation require that persons having radiation machines (e.g., x-ray machines and accelerators) "develop, document, and implement a radiation protection program" sufficient to comply with NH's Administrative Rules that govern radiation-related matters. A radiation protection program (informally known as an RPP) is a management plan for complying with those administrative rules which apply to you.
There are rules of general applicability and rules that apply only under specific circumstances. To help registrants develop their RPPs a series of documents were developed to help registrants understand the rules. These documents are only guidelines to supplement NH Statutes and Administrative Rules. If you use a guide and still have questions, please feel free to contact Radiological Health.
These guides were developed for dentists; podiatrists; veterinarians; small practices with general purpose and similar x-ray machines (e.g., chiropractors and physicians); and businesses and others with cabinet radiographic and analytical x-ray equipment (x-ray diffraction and x-ray fluorescence (XRF) machines).
