Eligibility for the State Committee on Aging
 

SCOA is an 18-member committee.  The Governor appoints 15 members subject to Executive Council approval.  The Governor appoints at least one member from each county.  The committee includes the Chairman of the Joint Legislative Committee on Elderly Affairs, one Representative appointed by the Speaker of the House and one Senator appointed by the President of the Senate.  At least 8 members must be 60 years of age or older at the time of their appointment.  No more than 8 members can be of the same political party.  No member may serve more than 2 consecutive terms nor have a material financial interest in any agency receiving federal or other funds administered by BEAS.
