To be eligible for medical assistance through the Ryan White CARE Program, a person must be a NH resident living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or a child exposed to HIV through its mother during pregnancy, and meet the following specific financial requirements:
Option 1
- You cannot currently be covered by Medicaid or eligible for medical assistance through Medicaid or any other insurance programs
- Your gross annual household income cannot exceed 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL)
OR
Option 2
- When your income exceeds 300% of the FPL you are eligible for medical assistance after you expend a specific amount of your own income on healthcare related expenses annually. In this case, 80% of the difference between your annual income and the maximum annual income for your household must be spent on healthcare related expenses before you are eligible for DHHS assistance with your medical expenses.
Go to Federal Poverty Guidelines to check income guidelines.
