Division of Family Assistance

DHHS provides financial and medical assistance to families with dependent children through the Financial Assistance for Needy Families (FANF) Program.  Under the FANF program there are two distinct programs that families could qualify for; The New Hampshire Employment Program (NHEP) and the Family Assistance Program (FAP).  This pamphlet gives information about the two programs similarities and differences such as:

  • Who might be eligible;
  • How to apply for assistance;
  • The difference between FANF and FAP;
  • How much financial assistance might be received;
  • How working affects financial assistance;
  • Assignment of child support rights;
  • Getting medical bills paid; and
  • Your rights and responsibilities.

Please see the Financial and Medical Assistance to Needy Families Pamphlet (2 pages) for more information and a printable version of the pamphlet.
