227 ASSISTANCE GROUP COMPOSITION FOR OAA, ANB, OR APTD: INDEPENDENT LIVING (AAM)

The following individuals must be included in the assistance group:

• individual requesting assistance; and

• individual’s spouse if they live together.

A needy essential person may be included in the financial assistance group at the option of the individual requesting assistance. A needy essential person cannot be included in the medical assistance group. The needy essential person must meet all of the following requirements:

• lives with the individual requesting assistance;

• does not meet the categorical requirements for OAA, ANB, or APTD; and

• is determined by the individual requesting assistance to be essential to their well-being.
