Nutrition and Physical Activity

The Obesity Prevention Program recommends evidence-based practices that create healthy places for children and adults to live, learn, work, and play. Research shows that behavior change is more likely to last when children, adults, and their communities make similar healthy changes.

Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight helps reduce the risk for developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Physical activity and healthy eating are key factors for reducing and preventing overweight and obesity.
