More and more women are choosing to breastfeed their baby and that is great news. A federal law passed in 2010, Break Time for Nursing Mothers, makes it easier for women to return to work and continue breastfeeding their baby. But as more nursing women return to work, more babies will need supportive child care.
When child care programs become strong partners and advocates in encouraging and supporting mothers to continue to breastfeed, the benefits to families are great. Child care programs also benefit from the improved health status of the children in their care. Knowing that you support and encourage breastfeeding mothers and babies could lead to families choosing your program over others—and could make a key difference in a mother’s decision to breastfeed her baby.

Free online breastfeeding training for child care providers. This training will provide you with the education and tools that will assist you in establishing best practice policies and procedures in your child care center to fully support breastfeeding mothers and their infants.
