715.01 Purpose of NSWF (FAM)

SR 11-08 Dated 10/11

Previous Policy

___________________________________________________________

Nutritional Supplement for Working Families (NSWF) is a flat monthly assistance amount that can only be used to purchase Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)-approved items and is offered as a Department initiative to provide working, single-parent SNAP households with a supplemental nutritional benefit.

NSWF recipients can be counted toward New Hampshire’s federal work participation rate because NSWF is financed through Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Maintenance of Effort (MOE) funds. Using the MOE funds for NSWF meets one of the four purposes of TANF and eligible NSWF recipients meet the work hour participation requirement for the New Hampshire Employment Program (NHEP) work program.

Funding for NSWF is limited within each fiscal year. NSWF will terminate for all recipients if funding or resources have been depleted before the end of a fiscal year.
