715.11 NSWF Benefit Issuance (FAM)

SR 11-08 Dated 10/11

Previous Policy

___________________________________________________________

NSWF is issued to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipient’s Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, separate from and in addition to the household’s SNAP benefit. The standard monthly NSWF benefit is deposited directly into the primary SNAP recipient’s EBT card. The household cannot choose which member will receive the NSWF allotment.

The NSWF benefit amount is not based on household size, income, or resources; all NSWF households receive the same flat monthly amount, half of which is issued for availability on the 15th and the 30th of each month. If the 15th or 30th of any month falls on a weekend, or a Monday or Friday holiday, NSWF will be issued on the preceding business day.

NSWF is removed from a recipient’s EBT card and no longer available for use if NSWF is:

• issued by the Department in error;

• issued by the Department while the individual is ineligible for NSWF; or

• not used for a period of 90 days.
