133.07 Public Assistance Households (FSM)

SR 00-19 Dated 06/00

Previous Policy

_____________________________________________________________

To the extent possible, assign Food Stamp certification periods to coincide with public (cash) assistance redeterminations. If necessary to avoid delays in issuing benefits for the first month of the new certification period, assign a Food Stamp certification period that expires in the month following the public assistance redetermination month. The longest allowable certification period is 12 months. See also FSM 133.09, Certification Periods, for more specific conditions affecting the length of Food Stamp certification periods for FANF and adult category households.

*

If public assistance is denied or terminated, shorten the certification period when household circumstances warrant. Notify the household of the new end date of the certification period.
