Individuals may be receiving assistance from their city or town welfare office when they apply for Food Stamps. Verbally notify the local welfare officer of the beginning date of assistance or that the application is denied. If requested by the local welfare officer, provide written notice after all eligibility decisions for the individual have been completed. Confidential information, such as the amount of assistance, is only disclosed with written permission of the individual.

If the individual is eligible for expedited service but must provide postponed verification before receiving additional benefits, take the following steps:

1.  Verbally notify the local welfare officer of the individuals eligibility for expedited service.

2.  Provide written notice, if requested, once the individual provides verification and a final decision is made.
