155 ADDITION OF AN INDIVIDUAL (FSM)

SR 13-27 Dated 09/13

Previous Policy

_____________________________________________________________

Determine eligibility when a new individual must be added to the case.

If an individual reports the addition of a new household member within time frames for reporting changes and provides required verification within 10 calendar days, add the new member effective the first allotment issued after the change is reported.

If the individual delays providing verification beyond 10 calendar days, add the new member effective the first allotment issued after the verification is provided.

If the individual fails to report a new household member within time frames, take the following steps:

1.  Allow 10 calendar days to provide required verification.

2.  Add the new member effective the first allotment issued after the verification is provided.

3.  Process a claim if an overissuance occurred.

For a new public assistance household, add the new member only to the Food Stamp case if all information is provided for Food Stamps but not for public assistance.

If a disqualified member becomes eligible, add the individual effective the first allotment issued after the disqualification ends.

If an individual reports a child as a new household member, and that child is currently included in a separate Food Stamp household due to a shared custody situation, do not add the child as a new member unless the individual reporting the child as a new household member verifies:

• the childs circumstances have changed and the child now primarily resides in the household of the individual reporting the child as a new household member; or

• shared custody of the child is an exact 50/50 split, and the individual reporting the child as a new household member provided more meals to the child over the past 6 months.

See Section 211.13, Shared Child Custody Situations, for more information.
