161 RECERTIFICATION (FSM)

SR 23-35 Dated 10/23

Previous Policy

_____________________________________________________________

SNAP eligibility is determined for a specific period of time called the certification period. At the end of the certification period, entitlement to SNAP benefits ends. The individual must apply and be recertified in order to continue to receive SNAP benefits.

Recertify eligibility for all individuals at regularly scheduled interval periods of no longer than 12 months.

Review individuals more frequently when either of the following occurs:

there is a change in case circumstances that affects other eligibility factors; or

there is conflicting information regarding eligibility.

Review and prove all eligibility factors and criteria that are subject to change. Update eligibility and benefits, as necessary. Assign the next recertification by counting the correct number of months after the month of the previous recertification.
