231.05 Expanded Categorical Eligibility Criteria (FSM)

Households may be considered Expanded Categorically eligible for SNAP if the household is not already categorically eligible due to receipt of public assistance (PA) or SSI, when:

 

·      the household’s gross income is less than or equal to 200% of the federal poverty income guidelines; and

 

·      the household would receive or be eligible to receive non-cash or in-kind services from a program that is less than 50% funded with State or Federal money counted for Maintenance of Effort (MOE) purposes under Title IV-A.

 

The Department developed BFA Form 77u, Community Resources, to meet the last requirement.

Households meeting expanded categorical eligibility criteria are not subject to the SNAP resource test.
