Individuals who regularly participate as residents in a drug or alcohol treatment program may participate in the Food Stamp Program only if the treatment center meets one of the following criteria:

• is authorized by the USDA to accept Food Stamp benefits;

• is a publicly operated community mental health center under Part B of Title XIX of the Public Health Service Act; or

• is nonprofit and has a contract with, or is authorized by, the State of New Hampshire to provide treatment that can lead to the rehabilitation of drug addicts or alcoholics.

An employee designated by the treatment center must act as authorized representative (AR) to apply for the individual and to receive the individuals benefit allotment.
