237.05 Two Issuances in the Same Month (FSM)

SR 01-12 Dated 07/01

Previous Policy

____________________________________________________________

Many residents in shelters for battered women and children have left a household containing the person who has abused them. Their former household may be certified to receive Food Stamp benefits based on a household size that includes the women and children who have just left. Residents in shelters for battered women and children who are included in such households may, if otherwise eligible, receive Food Stamp benefits as separate households if the certified household which includes them is the household containing the person who abused them or threatened to abuse them. Certify the household consisting of the battered woman and children even if their former household already received Food Stamp benefits for the same month. The household consisting of the battered woman and children may receive an additional allotment as a separate household only once a month.

Report the change in household composition to the DHHS worker responsible for the former household.
