503 AVAILABLE INCOME (FSM)

SR 94-04 Dated 04/94

Previous Policy

_____________________________________________________________

Income is considered available when it is actually received by an assistance group member on a regular and recurring basis. Regular and recurring means an income amount which the assistance group can reasonably expect for use each month. However, some income is not actually received by the assistance group, yet is considered available to the assistance group anyway. See Deemed Income.

Income is averaged to obtain a monthly figure when it represents a contribution or compensation for a period of more than 1 month, or when it varies from month to month. The monthly average is then considered to be the available income expected for the households use each month.

Example

When a womans uncle died, his house was sold and his estate provided the financing for the buyers. This year her inherited share of the interest is $1,200. She receives an interest check every September. The monthly average of this available income is $100.
