Money paid to an individual by someone not in the assistance group. See also Vendor Payments. For contributions which are not money but instead are commodities, goods, or services, see Income-in-Kind.

Treatment: Unearned Income

Exceptions:

• donated foods

• the value of U.S. Department of Agriculture donated foods.

Treatment: Excluded Income

• Cash donations based on need and received from a private nonprofit charitable organization. Donations may not exceed $300 in a federal fiscal quarter.
