SR 13-22 Dated 07/12

Previous Policy

_____________________________________________________________

Count payments under Title I of the Domestic Volunteer Services Act of 1973, P.L. 93-113, to volunteers in the following AmeriCorps programs:

• Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA), including;

- Campus Compact for New Hampshire;

- Families in Transition; and

- New Hampshire Catholic Charities;

• University Year for Action; and

• Urban Crime Prevention.

Treatment: Earned Income

Exception: Exclude VISTA income if the individual was already receiving food stamps or public assistance when they joined VISTA. This income exclusion remains in effect if the individuals receipt of food stamps is temporarily interrupted for 60 days or less, if the interruption is caused by:

• the individuals failure to recertify timely for FS; or

• the individuals reassignment to a VISTA location in another state that made it necessary to reapply for FS in that state.

VISTA is funded through the federal agency Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).
