111 AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVES (AR) SR 98-51, 12/98 (FSM-A)

An authorized representative (AR) may assist or represent an individual in any aspect of the eligibility process or Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) process. See FAM 707, Issuing Benefits, for additional information on AR's and EBT.

Individuals disqualified for food stamp benefits because of fraud or an intentional program violation or a nonmember living with the food stamp household may only serve as an AR if any of the following apply:

. No other adult is able to be an AR; or

. That individual is the only adult living with the household.

Division of Family Assistance (DFA) employees involved in the eligibility or benefit issuance processes and retailers authorized to accept food stamps may be an AR, only if no one else is available and the DFA Supervisor gives specific written approval.
