133.07 Public Assistance Households SR 94-04, 04/94 (FSM-A)

To the extent possible, assign food stamp certification periods to coincide with public assistance redeterminations. If necessary to avoid delays in issuing benefits for the first month of the new certification period, assign a food stamp certification period which expires in the month following the public assistance redetermination month. The longest allowable certification period is 12 months.

Exceptions:

. Assign a certification period of up to 3 months to public assistance households with zero gross food stamp income.

. Assign a certification period of up to 4 months to public assistance households with expenses which exceed their income if they expect any of the following:

- a third party to make vendor payments directly to a creditor,

- to receive a bona fide loan,

- to receive in-kind income, or

- other similar circumstances.

If public assistance is denied or terminated, shorten the certification period when household circumstances warrant. Notify the household of the new end date of the certification period.
