Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is announcing the next phase of the enrollment process for the new Medicaid Care Management (MCM) Program. DHHS has started assigning Medicaid clients who have not yet enrolled in the MCM Program to a Health Plan.
“Our Medicaid clients will be receiving letters over the next two weeks letting them know which Health Plan they are enrolled in,” said DHHS’ Director of Client Services Carol Sideris. “From there, their Health Plan will be working with them to confirm who will be their primary care provider (PCP). Clients will still be have 90 days to make changes to their Health Plan if they choose to do so.”
Almost 55,000 Medicaid Clients enrolled in a Health Plan during the period of Open Enrollment. Open Enrollment began in September and was the time for Medicaid Clients to choose one of three Health Plans – Meridian Health Plan of New Hampshire, New Hampshire Healthy Families and Well Sense. With Open Enrollment closing, auto-assignment has begun. Auto-assignments are based on a number of factor’s including client’s medical history, who they’ve seen in the past and where they received care.
"We are very pleased with the number of Medicaid clients who have enrolled with a Health Plan,” said DHHS Commissioner Nicholas Toumpas. “Typically states see a self-selection rate below 20%. In NH, more than 50% selected their plan prior to the auto-assignment process. Our outreach efforts have been very effective. We thank all of the family care givers, providers and community agencies that encouraged and assisted Medicaid clients through the process."
Information about MCM and the Health Plans is available on the DHHS website: www.dhhs.nh.gov. When clients receive their information about auto-assignment they can call the Enrollment Call Center at 1-888-901-4999 if they would like to make a change with the Health Plan they have been enrolled with. New Hampshire’s MCM Program begins December 1.
