Families & Children Women Teens Adults Seniors People with Disabilities
The Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) provides medically-accurate, evidence-based, age-appropriate and comprehensive sex education to empower young people to reduce their risk of unplanned pregnancy and STIs, including HIV. Education is geared towards the development of social and emotional skills young people need for healthy relationships, to make responsible decisions, and for positive youth development. Education is intended for adolescents and pregnant/parenting young adults up to 21 years old.

Classes are currently offered at two sites in New Hampshire:

  • PREP Manchester
    Amoskeag Health (Manchester, NH)
See the website for more information on the classes offered and how to register
  • SHINE (Sexual Health Information Network & Education)
TLC Family Resource Center (Claremont, NH)
    Serving locations across Sullivan County
See the website for more information on classes offered and how to register

The State PREP program is federally funded by the Family & Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) and is administered by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS), Division of Public Health Services (NH DPHS). These awarded funds are distributed by NH DPHS to community organizations in New Hampshire to educate young people through effective and evidence-based programs that have proven to delay sexual activity, increase condom or birth control use for sexually active youth, and/or reduce pregnancy and STIs/HIV among youth. Education includes both abstinence and birth control as options to prevent pregnancy and STIs, including HIV/AIDS. The program targets adolescents and pregnant/parenting young adults up to 21 years old who are homeless, in foster care, live in rural areas or in geographic areas with high teen birth rates, or come from racial or ethnic minority groups, and also supports pregnant and parenting youth. Though PREP targets these specific groups, any adolescent located in the sites’ communities are welcome to complete the program.
