About the Bureau of Infectious Disease Control
Infectious Disease Surveillance Section
The mission of the Infectious Disease Surveillance Section is to protect and improve the health of NH citizens by tracking and responding to the occurrence of disease in the population. The Disease Surveillance Section maintains the reportable disease system and is responsible for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting information for over 50 infectious diseases that are reportable under NH law. In addition to general reporting and surveillance activities, the section includes the following program areas:
- Bioterrorism and Early Event Detection Surveillance
- Foodborne Disease Surveillance
- Healthcare-Associated Infections Surveillance
- Influenza Sentinel Surveillance System
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Surveillance
- Tickborne Disease Surveillance
- Vaccine Preventable Disease Surveillance
Infectious Disease Prevention, Investigation and Care Services Section
The mission of the Infectious Disease Prevention, Investigation & Care Services Section is to prevent illness, disability and death caused by infectious diseases in New Hampshire residents. The Infectious Disease Prevention, Investigation & Care Services Section is responsible for giving recommendations to prevent the spread of disease, patient and provider education, disease outbreak investigation and financial assistance. The Infectious Disease Prevention, Investigation & Care Services Section also administers the following programs:
- Infectious Disease Investigation
- STD Prevention
- HIV Prevention
- NH Ryan White Care
- Viral Hepatitis
- TB Prevention and Control
- Tuberculosis Financial Assistance
- Public Health Detailing
Immunization Section
The mission of the NH Immunization Section is to reduce or eliminate all vaccine preventable diseases. It is a resource for healthcare providers and the general public providing credible information and educational resources regarding the importance of vaccination for all vaccine-preventable diseases. The Immunization Section includes the following program areas:
- Adult Immunizations
- Childhood Immunizations
- Vaccine Management
