Asthma Action Plan ThumbnailAsthma Action Plans are a crucial part of managing asthma. They explain a patient’s medications, symptoms, triggers, and what to do in an emergency. They are also required by law for schools to administer emergency medication to students with asthma.

If you or your child has asthma, you should talk to your health care provider about completing an Asthma Action Plan Adobe Acrobat Reader Symbol.

These plans should be:

  • Kept in a place that is easy to find;
  • Shared with all those who care for the child, such as daycare workers, school nurses, teachers, babysitters, and family members; and,
  • Reviewed with a health care provider once a year.
