925.03 Continued Eligibility for Training/Education and Basic Education  (FAM)

SR 20-23 Dated 08/20

Previous Policy

___________________________________________________________

Parents are allowed continued eligibility during the 12-month eligibility certification period for training or education as long as the parent is considered currently enrolled in a training or educational program by the institution, even when the parent is not actively participating in the approved training or educational activity. There is no time limit for these circumstances during the 12-month eligibility period.

During continued eligibility, the level of service authorized for the individual *at the initial eligibility determination will remain the same for the 12-month eligibility period, unless the parent(s) requests a decrease.

The family cost share may change but will not increase above the family cap amount calculated at the 12-month initial eligibility determination.

The child(ren) must continue to attend child care during continued eligibility for NH Child Care Scholarship payment to be made.

For example, a parent is in a training or educational program but was in a car accident and will be out of school on a six month medical leave. The educational institution considers the parent currently enrolled but on a medical leave from school. The parent continues to be eligible for NH Child Care Scholarship while remaining in a training or educational program. The child care provider may bill for NH Child Care Scholarship payment even though the parent is not actively participating in the training or educational program.
