Introduction SR 94-04, 04/94 (FAM-A)

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Human Services (DHS) administers public assistance programs in accordance with state law and federal laws and regulations. This manual contains the official DHS policy governing the administration of the following categories and programs:

• Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) - financial and medical assistance,

• Poverty Level Pregnant Women (PLP) - medical assistance,

• Poverty Level Children (PLC) - medical assistance,

• Children with Severe Disabilities (CSD) - medical assistance,

• Food Stamp (FS) - coupons issued to assist in the purchasing of food,

• Child Day Care - financial reimbursement assistance for families requiring child care due to participation in employment, training, or educational activities, and

• Emergency Assistance - financial assistance and services for families experiencing a crisis.

DHS administers other financial and medical assistance programs for the elderly, blind, and disabled. Policy governing these programs is contained in the Adult Assistance Manual. Information on the purpose and instructions for completion of forms referred to in this manual are contained in the DHS Forms Manual.
