225.01 Continuation of Medical Assistance During and Following Pregnancy (MAM)

If the pregnant woman is eligible for and receiving medical assistance on the day her pregnancy ends, continue her medical assistance for 12 months postpartum without regard to any other eligibility criteria. Terminate 12 month postpartum medical assistance on the last day of the month in which the 12 month postpartum ends.

 

If the pregnant woman is eligible for and receiving medical assistance on the day her child is born, continue medical assistance for the newborn for 12 months from the baby's birth.

 

Pregnant and postpartum individuals remain eligible regardless of any change to their situation with the exceptions of:

·        The individual request voluntary termination

·        The individual ceases to be a state resident

·        The agency determines that eligibility was determined incorrectly at the most recent determination or redetermination of eligibility because of agency error or fraud, abuse, or perjury attributed to the individual; or

·        Death of the individual.
