407.01 Categorically Needy Medical Assistance (MAM)

A MEAD/MOAD-eligible individual is considered resource-eligible if the total value of countable resources of the assistance group (AG) is:

- $35,758 for an individual; and

- $53,634 for a couple.

 

 

A non-MEAD/MOAD-eligible individual is considered resource-eligible if the total value of countable resources of the AG is $1,500 or less.

 

 

An HC-CSD categorically needy medical AG is considered resource-eligible if the total value of countable resources of the AG is $1,000 or less.

 

 

For all applicants and recipients of NF, CFI, or HCBS who meet the categorically needy income limit, apply a resource disregard in the amount of $6,000 so that the effective resource limit is $7,500.

Example: Household size of 1 open OAA Categorically Needy with a Nursing Facility approval.  The household’s total resources are $7,000.  A resource disregard will be applied in the amount of $6,000.  The household’s total countable resources will be $1,000.
