417 RESOURCE ASSESSMENT (MAM)

A resource assessment is used to determine the available resources of both an institutionalized individual and the community spouse at the time of institutionalization. Count both individual’s resources as if they were both applying for assistance.

At the time of application use the information from the assessment to determine the amount of the community spouse’s protected resources. Protected resources are resources of the community spouse which are not considered available to the institutionalized spouse. See PART 419, Protection of Resources.
